“I need to learn Gen AI.” “I should be an ‘AI Engineer’.”
But what does that even mean?
It’s confusing because there’re so many buzzwords flying around - what was in yesterday is out tomorrow.
And people wonder if they need a PhD just to get in the door.
That’s why I hosted a workshop with Helian Feng .
Helian has been in the trenches. She helped build the AI for Amazon’s Alexa, Fire TV, and AWS Bedrock.
Now, she’s a VP of Gen AI at Fidelity.
She knows what actually gets you hired.
In our workshop, Helian broke down the 4 distinct paths you can take into a Gen AI career.
(Hint: Only one of them involves needing a PhD and top-tier research papers).
For the other 3 paths, she revealed the skills companies are desperate for.
She also answered the one question most people get wrong: “Is this even a good task for Gen AI?”
Some peple say: “2024 is the year of reinforcement learning, 2025 is the year of agents.”
And I asked her what’s coming next…
